Brenda Palmer, been involved in the travel industry for over 13 years. Here is a bit about the owner and lead destination wedding specialist at TPI Dream Destination Travel Services:
I started in the travel industry in 1997, 13 years ago, as a junior agent at American Express Travel in downtown Calgary AB. I worked as a corporate agent, than transpired into a vacation agent briefly and onto a groups specialist. I worked for American Express for 7 years until December 2003. I than went on to have a family. From there, I worked as a After Hours Emergency desk agent for a few months in 2004, for Business Travellers Hotline, helping out corporate clients who needed to reach their travel agencies after regular business hours.
It was from there that I took a hiatus from travel to raise my 2 kids, my older son Kyle was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorder in 2007, so with having to deal with in home therapy sessions daily I focused my time and energy on that aspect of my life.
In the latter part of 2008 it was time to get back to work. I landed a job at Westjet Airlines, as a Super Sales agent, who than went onto to work at Westjet Vacations. It was during my time at Westjet Vacations I wanted to pursue something different. Weddings had always been a passion for me, and I wanted to start a business that I had exisisting knowledge and expertise in without having to retrain myself for a totally different industry, plus I wanted to be able to have the flexibility to run my business and be accessible to my family. I discovered TPI, and went onto to start destination weddings and honeymoon's. I have been focusing on destination wedding's and honeymoons for the past 2 years, having put together almost 20 groups during this time, with about 5 already on the go for 2012. I feel I offer to the destination bride something that far exceeds what bigger chain agencies offer, and it's been a proven fact with clients I work with now that have tried out the chain agencies, in turn, to find that this isn't what they were seeking.
My service levels go above and beyond what is expected. I enjoy what I do and I work very hard, putting in long hours and time, to make sure you are looked after and taken care of.
I am constantly striving to find ways to learn, and make myself stand out above the competition, plus to offer something truly unique.
