Well for some time now I have been contemplating a renewal of the vows with my husband. We have been married for over 11 years and needless to say have been thru alot. There are times in my life that I look at my husband and think of how much I really love him and how exciting it would be to do this all over again (yes I am crazy) Our first wedding, was a destination wedding at the Almond Beach Club in Barbados in April 1999. A destination wedding 11 years ago was not what it is now. In fact there was really only us two and a few witnesses we had gathered from along the beach. It was a fantastic experience. Inexpensive and unique! The whole process was not time consuming at all and after our 11am wedding we were done by 1230, having lunch and than carrying on our day. Yes it probably would have been nice to have family and friends attend, but that is what the at home reception was for. Plus Barbados was such a great island to get married on, very easy and straight forward. Well idea's have come to me in the past week of other places that I would like to plan a destination wedding. The two cities of Las Vegas and New York City really appeal to me. I love them both, Las Vegas I have been to 5 times and NYC have yet to be able to visit but think a wedding there would be awesome. The only thing with NYC is the cost aspect that puts me off a little as Manhattan tends to be an expensive city. So we are leaning towards a renewal of the vows ceremony on the actual day we were married on, April 22nd 2011. I came across a great wedding website the Las Vegas Wedding Company Website. I had looked at a few of the hotel resort wedding packages and I hate to say it but alot of these Las Vegas wedding chapels really don't appeal to me. And of course the packages that you would like that are least expensive and dont include all the fanfare that you don't really need when it's only the two of you, only are valid Mon-Thurs and than are costing an arm and a leg over the weekend! The Paris hotel wedding packages I did also like but when it's only you two I can't justify spending over $2000 on a renewal of the vows ceremony. It it was for a wedding with guests attending than it would fit perfectly. An outdoor venue that appeals to us is the Valley of Fire, just outside of Las Vegas. This company arranges more than just your average hotel wedding which I find really appealing and quite like. I had also looked at the Ventian Gondola Wedding package, but don't know for the amount of money that it costs (about $900 USD) if someone singing for 20 mins and having the shoppers of the Palazzo Shoppes appeals to me! I did actually see a wedding on the gondola the last time we were in Vegas and it did look interesting. The thing that I would like about having a renewal of the vows at the Venetian is the fact that you would feel very much like you are in Italy and an Italian destination wedding would be fantastic, but not going to happen anytime soon! So Im looking forward to this process. I find it will help give me an advantage in helping understand brides that do come to me wanting to plan a destination wedding, as I can help understand the process for them a bit better being as I would have done 2 of my own. A Las Vegas Destination Wedding is not a very common destination wedding that I have organized as most of my brides do tend to lean towards the Carribbean or Mexico when starting the process, so it makes it exciting! I did start looking at wedding dresses, and am leaning towards something short and sassy, that can be worn again and probably would also incorporate some color into the dress. Bellezza Bridal Group here in Calgary have some great dresses, plus a payment plan, which for some brides can be really helpful, and with onsite alteration makes it nice and easy with no complications and having to drive here there and everywhere.
